Description
Belvedere Cottage is an early 19th-century building, altered around 1870 and in the 20th century. It is constructed of painted limestone ashlar with an obscured roof and a moulded stack to the rear. The building has a double-depth plan. The exterior presents a single-windowed front, with a returned coped parapet and cornice, and a lower parapet to the rear. A plate glass window sits above a projecting shop, which has a flat roof. The shop features a c.1870 six-pane window on the left and a six-panel door on the right. Two six/six pane sash windows are present on the first floor of the left return, with one on the ground floor. C20 windows are incorporated into the returns of the projecting shop. The interior was not inspected. The building sits on a steeply sloping site with a shop projecting from the rear of numbers 26 and 26A in Belvedere, and has a northern front entrance on Upper Hedgemead Road.
