Description

No. 25 Morford Street is a terrace house, dating from around 1775 to 1789, and later altered in the 20th century. It is now divided into flats. The front is built of limestone ashlar, which is painted at ground floor level, while the rear is of ashlar and rubble. The roof is a mansard design, with pantiles on the upper slope at the front, triple Roman tiles on the lower front slope, and triple Roman tiles and Welsh slate on the rear slope. It has a coped party wall to the left, with two ashlar stacks.

The house has three storeys, an attic, and a basement, with a two-window facade. The first floor has two six-over-six sash windows in plain reveals, with stone sills and wrought iron balconettes. The second floor has similar sash windows, the one on the right having horns, set in plain reveals with stone sills. The ground floor features a pair of plate glass, horned sashes to the left, and a six-panel door to the right, with flush moulded and recessed panels in a plain reveal. A wrought iron footscraper is attached to the wall to the left of the door. A concrete crossover leads to a blocked basement window and a 20th-century door providing access to the flats. A double dormer contains two two-over-two horned sashes. The building has a moulded eaves cornice and a rebuilt coped parapet made of reconstituted stone. The rear elevation has six-over-six sash windows with horns on the ground, first and second floors, with 20th-century alterations to the basement and a 20th-century porch providing access to the rear of the flats. The interior has not been inspected. Attached to the front are wrought iron railings and a gate, with urn finials on limestone bases.
