Description
Nos. 13 and 13A on Monmouth Place are a pair of terrace houses built in the late 18th century, with a lease dated October 8, 1792. They have been altered in the late 19th and 20th centuries. The houses are constructed from limestone ashlar and feature a slate roof.
The exterior is three storeys high with two windows on each house, all of which are replacement sash windows. No. 13 has closely spaced windows, with paired sashes set into a flush mullion at the ground floor and a platband above. In contrast, No. 13A has more widely spaced windows, and its ground floor features newer masonry that has replaced the original shopfront mentioned in earlier listings. Both houses have three panelled doors that are grouped in the centre. They also feature a thin cornice with a shallow blocking course and a parapet, along with a deep stack to the left. No. 14, located to the right, is similar in detail, with a straight joint between the two properties. The interiors have not been inspected, but these houses are included for their group value.
