Description

This is a small house in a row, dating from the early 19th century, with later 19th and 20th-century alterations. The exterior is painted limestone ashlar with a pantile roof. It is three storeys high and has two windows. The windows are plain sashes. The ground floor retains an original shopfront with five pilasters. This shopfront contains two panelled doors, each with a paned transom light, and a square display window to a panelled stall riser, all under a fascia with a cornice on small end brackets. A cavetto cornice, blocking course, and parapet top the building, which has a hipped roof with no visible stacks. The interior, inspected in 1984, retains an original central staircase and architraved fireplaces. The building was formerly the Blackbird Inn.
