Description

No. 7 Little Stanhope Street is a house in a row, dating from around 1770, with a lease for No. 9 dated November 16, 1774. The building is constructed of limestone ashlar and has a slate roof.

The exterior features a small property with a mansard roof that is hipped to the right, and there is an access way with steps leading to a lower level. It has two storeys, an attic, and a basement, with a single window front. Above the sixteen-pane sash windows, there is a two-light small pane casement dormer. The entrance is marked by a six-panel door located to the left. A continuous wooden plate or lintel runs across the ground floor. The building is adorned with a cavetto cornice, a blocking course, and a parapet, along with a coped party division to the left. There is a large lateral ridge stack and a straight joint between this property and the one next door. The right return of the building drops to basement level, featuring a 20th-century door and window beneath a wooden lintel, with a plain string above and a raised central apron. The rear of the property, which appears to have once connected to another building, is rendered and has some small openings. The interior has not been inspected.
