Description

Nos. 35, 36, and 36A on New King Street are three terrace houses with shops, built around 1760 and later altered in the 19th century. The buildings are constructed from limestone ashlar and feature slate mansard roofs.

The exterior consists of two storeys, an attic, and a basement, with each house having one window on the front. No. 35 has a paired twelve-pane sash dormer above an eight-twelve-eight-pane tripartite sash window with flush stone mullions, and a three-pane sash display front that includes a fascia and dentil cornice. The basement area is enclosed by iron railings atop a stone curb and has a twelve-pane sash window. To the right, there is a door set in deep reveals, paired with the adjoining house. The left return has a coped gable with a broad stack set flush and a twelve-pane sash window at three levels. Nos. 36 and 36A each feature a twelve-pane sash dormer above a plain sash window, two-light display windows, and a panelled door with a shallow transom light on either side. The entire front has a mid platband, which is covered by shop fascias on the outer units, along with a coved cornice, blocking course, and parapet.

The interiors have not been inspected.
