Description

Two terrace houses dating from the late 18th century, with later 19th-century alterations. The houses are built of limestone ashlar with slate roofs. The end party walls have coped detailing, and a central stack is present, with a lower section in rubble and a stack to the left. The exterior presents three storeys, an attic, and a basement. Each house has a single window frontage. Dormers have paired twelve-pane sashes, and all other windows are paired sashes with flush stone mullions, including basement windows. The window surrounds are mostly plain, although the second floor of No.3 has twelve-pane sashes. A Doric doorcase with three-quarter columns and closed pediments features to the right, with a six-panel door to No.3 and a five-panel door to No.4. A platband runs above the ground floor, followed by a moulded cornice, blocking course, and parapet, all slightly higher than the adjacent No.2. The interiors were not inspected. Simple spearhead railings on a rounded ashlar curb enclose the basement areas and return to the doorways.
