CAMDEN ROAD (North side) The Shrubbery 05/08/75

Detached house, set above Camden Road. c1870 with C20 alterations. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, hipped slate roof with scroll timber brackets to quoins of wide eaves and stacks to sides and rear. PLAN: L-plan with mezzanine hip-roofed rear service wing. EXTERIOR: Two storeys and basement, four-window range. Plate glass sash windows with ornamental stops to chamfered jambs. Entrance front facing south-west at right angle to road has paired windows to left, moulded ground floor band steps slightly forward over bolection moulded six-panel door and overlight, external stack to right of centre is flanked by window to each floor. Projecting left hand range of street front has single storey canted bay with restored parapet and stone mullioned tripartite window above. Right hand range has similar tripartite windows to right. Right return has tripartite window to rear of first floor and left of ground floor and C20 window to rear of ground floor. First floor of rear service wing approached by bridge from house. INTERIOR: Not inspected.
