No.33 05/08/75
GV II
Detached house standing at right-angle to road. c1840. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar painted to ground floor of street front, slate roof with wide eaves gabled to front and rear with moulded stacks to left return and rear. EXTERIOR: Three storeys, side elevation of single window width to street with narrow door six-panel door, glazed to top, beneath plat band; first and second floors have two-light, four-pane casement windows with Tudor arched lights, label moulds and cast iron balconettes to centre. Unusual diagonally sloping boarded timber eaves. Principal elevation is south-facing. Outer pairs of casement windows to ground floor with hood-moulds, inner opening containing half-glazed double doors set within a shallow four-centred arch. First floor has similar two-light windows to the left and four-light window to right; second floor with similar paired two-light stone mullioned windows in raised surrounds, remains of former label mould cut off by eaves visible, implying that house formerly had parapet or higher eaves. Stonework of right return shows evidence that building was formerly two units and two storeys. Ground floor has label moulds to blocked two-light windows and Tudor-arched doorway now has window. INTERIOR: Not inspected.
