Description
32 Sion Hill is a detached house built in 1829, with alterations made around 1850 and some 20th-century additions. The house is constructed from limestone ashlar and features a slate roof with moulded stacks on the party walls.
The building has an L-shaped plan with a projecting left wing. It stands two storeys high, with an attic and basement, and has a two-window range. The left wing projects and includes a canted bay on the ground and first floors, which now contains casement windows with overlights. There is a cast iron trellised balconette on the first floor, and an arcaded parapet above a blind box. The gable is moulded and coped, with kneelers at the attic level, and features a French window set within a label mould that opens onto the roof of the porch.
To the right, there is a set-back 19th-century block that has a similar gable with a moulded lintel. The second floor has a raised eared architrave with bracketed sills and a two-over-two pane sash window, while the first floor has a triple window with similar glazing and a balconette. A 20th-century door is located to the right of a 20th-century garage in the angle. The date of construction is derived from the deeds. The interior has not been inspected.
