Description

No. 25 Merton Lodge is a detached house dating to around 1830. It is constructed of limestone ashlar, rusticated to the front ground floor, with a slate roof and moulded stacks to the returns and rear wing. The house is arranged with a double depth plan and a rear left wing.

The two-storey building has a basement and a two-window front elevation. It features six/six-pane sash windows. A returned coped parapet rises over the gable ends, and there is a returned cornice, a lintel frieze, and a platband to the ground floor. The first-floor windows have moulded architraves, bracketed sills. The basement projects to support a trellised ground-floor balcony with two French windows beneath a canopy. A window is visible in the attic of the left return, along with a first-floor window on the left side, and a long, enclosed timber porch providing access to the rear. The rear wing has a hipped roof and windows to each floor. The interior has not been inspected.
