Description
Oriel Lodge is a detached house, now functioning as a retirement home, built in the mid-19th century with 20th-century additions. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and features slate roofs with wide eaves and moulded stacks, some of which have gabled tops. The building has an irregular L-plan and is two to three storeys high, with a five-window front.
The left-hand block has a pitched roof and a two-window range, with a three-storey gabled turret at the centre. To the right of the centre, there is a wide, forward-facing, two-storey gabled range that includes pierced radial panels above a semicircular opening at the apex, which is over a cornice supported by consoles and a 20th-century window. The set-back two-storey right-hand range features six-over-six pane sash windows, and there is an additional 20th-century range at the far right. The front of the house is spanned by a late 20th-century glazed verandah. The interior has not been inspected.
