Description

Turnpike Cottage is a toll house built for the turnpike trust in the early to mid 19th century. It features rubble construction with an ashlar front facing the road and has a slate roof with overhanging eaves, hipped over the west end. The building is two storeys high and has two bays on the north and south sides, with a half-hexagonal west end. The windows on the sides of the west end are 2-light casements set in chamfered mullions and surrounds. There is a 20th-century door on the south elevation, along with a 20th-century extension to the east.
