Description
Lambridge House is a detached house, originally dating to the early 18th century, with extensions added in the early and mid-19th century. The house is constructed of squared limestone rubble with ashlar dressings, and has a double-pitched slate roof with moulded stacks to the gable ends and ridge. The plan is of a double depth, with a single-storey wing to the rear right.
The two-storey, three-window front faces north-east. To the left is a single-storey wing with a canted bay projecting from the left return. The main entrance block has a coped parapet that rises above the gables of the returns and meets external stacks on the right return. Steps lead to an enclosed porch with a cornice, blocking course, and engaged Tuscan columns on plinths; the lintel above the C20 double doors has been altered to form a segmental arch. Six/six-pane sash windows are located above the door and to the right, while eight/eight-pane sash windows are found on both floors to the right, with a small C20 window to the centre of the first floor. The single-storey wing to the left has a low coped parapet and an external stack to the left, flanked by six/six-pane sash windows. Semi-basement windows are found below.
The rear elevation is ten windows wide, with three storeys. The left return has a two-storey canted bay with a hipped roof, parapet, cornice, and six/six-pane sash windows to both floors and each facet of the bay. A six/six-pane sash window is located on the first floor, and a ground floor door leads to a C20 conservatory. The rear also has six/six-pane sash windows. A mid-19th century full-height canted bay, with sill bands to the taller six/six-pane windows, includes a continuing parapet and cornice. A C20 door is situated to the south-east of centre. The rear right wing has a coped parapet, cornice, plinth, and plate glass sash windows.
The interior of the ground floor of the rear block features a deep chimney breast, likely related to a former open fire, along with stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
Attached to the front right-hand corner by a wall with a door is a rubble stone outhouse, now a garage, with a Cotswold slate roof.
