Description

129 Wellsway is a detached house built around 1830. It features limestone ashlar or dressed stone and has a slate roof. The building has a compact square shape with paired hipped roofs behind a continuous parapet, located at the acute angled junction of Wellsway and Entry Hill. The main symmetrical frontage faces north, with the entrance on the west side (Wellsway).

The house is three storeys tall and has three windows on the front, all of which are four-pane sash windows set in plain reveals. There is a sill band at the second floor and moulded architraves at the first floor. On the ground floor, there is a similar sash window on the left, and a deep flat-roofed canted bay window on the right. The central entrance features a panelled door with a transom light, framed by a moulded architrave with a cornice-hood supported by volute consoles. The front is adorned with plain end pilasters with capitals, a frieze with a moulded cornice, a blocking course, and a parapet.

The left return of the building has a central twelve-pane window at the first and second floors, an attached single-storey addition, and two stacks with cappings. The front facing Wellsway is finished in ashlar and has three windows, all four-pane sashes, with the ground floor window on the left being blind. The central six-panel door with a transom light has a sunk plain surround. The front also features four pilasters, all resting on a plinth. The rear of the house has two twelve-pane sashes on each floor, positioned to the right, along with a single stack with a capping. The interior has not been inspected.
