Description

27 and 29 Bloomfield Road is a pair of buildings constructed from limestone ashlar with a slate roof, dating from the 19th century. The design features a symmetrical compact main range with a hipped roof and a cross wing that is set back at the gabled ends.

The exterior consists of two storeys and an attic, with each storey featuring two plain sash windows. The first-floor windows are adorned with stone balcony slabs supported by brackets and topped with cast-iron cresting, which was replaced in the early 21st century based on a surviving section. The ground floor has deep sash windows with flat floating cornices on brackets. The returns of the building have sash windows at each level, positioned near the internal angle. The cross wing includes a two-panelled door framed by a pilaster surround, topped with a plain fanlight set within a moulded arch that has a keystone. In front of the arches, there is free-standing decorative iron cresting. Number 29 features an early gabled conservatory on the right side and a central dormer at the rear, which was likely added later. The roof has deep plain eaves soffits, stone ridge and hip tiles, along with a central ashlar stack, a rear eaves stack, and a stack at each gable end.

The interiors have not been inspected.
