Description

23 and 25 Bloomfield Road are a pair of semi-detached villas built in the mid-19th century. They are constructed from limestone ashlar and feature a slate roof. The buildings have a symmetrical, compact hipped main range with set back cross wings at the gabled ends, which include the entrances.

The exterior consists of two storeys, with each villa having two plain sash windows. The first-floor windows are adorned with stone balconies that have railings, while the deep ground floor sashes are topped with floating cornices on brackets. Each villa also has a sash window at both levels on the returns, located near the inner angle. The cross wing features a two-panelled door beneath a plain fan-light, complete with a moulded arch, keystone, and an impost band that spans the width of the wing. The eaves soffit is deep and plain, with stone ridge and hip tiles. There is a central ashlar stack, another at the rear eaves, and a small stack at the gable ends. These stacks are partly external and have broad scroll offsets at the first-floor level. Additionally, No. 25 includes a canted bay on the rear elevation. The interiors have not been inspected.
