Description
A pair of terrace houses dating to circa 1804, with later 19th-century alterations, possibly designed by Charles Harcourt Masters. The houses are constructed of limestone ashlar with concrete tile roofs. They have a double-depth plan, accessed from the south, but with their principal elevation and garden facing north.
The exterior is three storeys and two windows wide. The windows are primarily plain sashes; the second floor has single and three-part sashes, while the ground floor features a single sash, a late 20th-century extension, paired sashes, and two French doors with transom lights. A frieze, cornice, blocking course, and parapet top the gabled roofs, which have copings and a small centre stack. The rear elevation includes a narrow wing added to the left of No. 6, with sashes and a panelled door in an arched opening. Set back, No. 6 has plain sashes, while No. 7 has casements and a glazed door with margin panes. The interiors were not inspected.
A boundary wall runs along the north side of the properties, constructed of ashlar with rusticated piers that feature square urns at No. 6 and round urns at No. 7. A lower wall extends back along the party divisions. The houses are part of a long speculative row and retain substantial original detailing, particularly on the north elevations.
