Description

Thornham Villa is a house dating from around 1870, located on the south side of Camden Road. It is built from limestone ashlar and features a slate roof that is hipped to the left and gabled to the projecting right-hand range, with a long moulded stack on the rear party wall. The house has a three-unit plan with a forward right wing and stands three storeys tall with a lower ground floor. The front facade has a three-window range, with one window on the left return, which continues the design of City View.

The building has a returned moulded eaves cornice that extends to the gabled wing, with platbands on the second and ground floors. It features plate glass sash windows with hinged louvred shutters, and a canted bay window on the ground and lower ground floors to the right, topped with a pierced stone parapet. There is an enclosed porch in the angle, likely added in the 20th century, which has a coped parapet, cornice, and a modern door.

A notable feature of the property is the coped stone balustrade that extends approximately 20 meters to the south along Camden Road. This balustrade includes pierced semicircular arched panels and gatepiers that are pedimented on all four sides. The interior of the house has not been inspected.
