Description
Nos. 8, 9, and 10 Upper Camden Place are three houses built around 1820, forming part of an irregular terrace set back above Camden Road. They are constructed from limestone ashlar and feature slate mansard roofs with 20th-century dormers and moulded stacks on the party walls and ends.
The houses are three storeys high, with attics and basements, and their facades vary. They have low coped parapets, cornices, and ground floor platbands. The windows and doors on the right side are plate glass sash, with the doors glazed at the top. No. 8 has a stopped cornice, paired with splayed reveals and simple balconettes on the second floor, a shared balconette on the first floor, and a six-panel door. Nos. 9 and 10, which are painted at the ground floor, have a continuous coped parapet, a stopped cornice, and a ground floor plat/sill band that follows the contours of the full height canted bay on the left side of each house. No. 9 features a six-panel door, while No. 10 has a scrolled balconette around the first floor of its bay and a three-pane overlight above a five-panel door. There are vertical joints between the adjacent houses. The interiors have not been inspected.
