Description

The garden walls and gatepiers to The Old House date from the mid-18th century and the 19th century. Along The Hill, there is a low capped ashlar wall that is about 5 feet high, which ramps up to the left (west) end where it meets the capped gatepiers featuring incised panels and cast iron gates. The wall continues along The Hill and extends for 100 yards into Station Road. Here, the exterior is made of rubble while the interior consists of coursed, squared rubble. This section of the wall is approximately 12 feet high and topped with a cornice.
