Description

Nos. 39 and 40 Newton St Loe is a late 17th-century cottage that has been subdivided. It is constructed of rubble with freestone dressings and features a 20th-century tiled roof with coped raised verges and ashlar stacks. The building is single storey with attics, characterized by steep stone gables. There are three irregular 2- and 3-light casement windows, which have ovolo moulded surrounds with mullions and under dripmoulds. The doors are from the 20th century, with No. 39 located under a dripmould. Notably, No. 40 has a semi-circular projection that was formerly a bread oven.
