Description

This milepost, located on the south side of the road in Hinton Charterhouse, dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century and was made for the Bath Turnpike Trust. It is constructed from cast iron and has a rectangular upright shape with a moulded cap and base. The raised lettering on the milepost indicates the distances to Bath (4 miles), Warminster (13 miles), and Frome (9 miles).
