Description

This is a milepost, likely dating from the 1820s, created for the Bath Turnpike Trust. It features a square, inscribed, cast-iron plate mounted on a rendered square upright. The raised lettering, along with a pointing hand, reads: "THE/BATH ROADS/(hand)/TO THE/GUILDHALL/BATH/M... (and) Fur/4 & 3".
