Description

Midford Place is a small country villa dating from the early to mid-19th century, built in a mixture of Gothic and classical styles. It is constructed of ashlar stone with a slate roof and ashlar stacks, featuring a moulded eaves cornice. The building is arranged with a 1:2:1 bay configuration, where the outer bays project as wings and are accentuated by corner pilasters and crowned with pediments. The first floor of the wings contains two-light casement windows with glazing bars, set within moulded surrounds and beneath a hoodmould. The central section of the villa has two round-headed French windows with Gothic glazing on the ground floor, and two glazing bar sash windows above, all within moulded architraves. A lean-to conservatory is attached, notable for its fretwork frieze and decorative uprights. A rear porch on the east side provides access to the service wings.
