Description

This is a terrace house, dating from around 1775, with alterations made in the 19th century. The front is faced with limestone ashlar, painted up to the second floor, while the rear is also ashlar. It has a hipped roof with a parapet, covered with concrete tiles at the front, and two chimney stacks on the left, rebuilt in reconstituted Bath Stone. A staircase is located at the rear.

The house is four storeys high with a basement, and has a two-window front. The first floor has two plate glass sash windows with horns, set in plain reveals, a continuous stone sill, and a wrought iron balconette. The second floor has two similar windows in splayed reveals with a continuous stone sill. The third floor has two similar windows in plain reveals with stone sills. The ground floor has a similar sash window to the left, in a splayed reveal with a stone sill and a wrought iron balconette, and to the right, a six-panel door with fielded panels and a single glazed panel, set within a pedimented Doric doorcase. There is one step to a crossover paved with concrete and pennant stone. The basement has a single plate glass sash window in a plain reveal with a stone sill, and a door under the crossover is not visible. Architectural details include a band course over the ground floor, a former eaves cornice above the second floor, a moulded eaves cornice, and a coped parapet. The rear elevation has plate glass sash windows, with an eight/eight sash window to the first half-landing. A canted bay window extends across the ground and first floors at the rear.

The interior has not been inspected. Attached wrought iron railings, with shaped tops on concrete bases and a bottom bar, are part of the building.
