BELVEDERE (West side) No. 17 and attached railings (Formerly Listed as: LANSDOWN ROAD (West side) No. 3 (Bee Hive Inn), Nos. 4-24 (consec), No. 25 (Wine Vaults PH) Belvedere) 12/06/50

Terrace house. c1775 raised in C19 with C20 alterations. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar to front, rubble to basement, ashlar and rubble to rear; double pile parapeted roof, triple Romans to front and rear, with two ashlar stacks on coped party wall to left. EXTERIOR: Four storeys and basement; two window front. First floor has two six/six sashes in splayed reveals with stone sills with continuous frieze and cornice over; second floor has two similar windows without cornice; third floor has two similar windows. Ground floor has one similar window to left, to right six panel door with flush, fielded and single glazed panel in enriched pedimented Doric doorcase; pennant paved crossover flush with pavement with wrought iron footscraper. Basement has two six/six sashes in plain reveals with continuous stone sill, six panel door under crossover, C20 area steps. Band course over ground floor; former eaves cornice over second floor; moulded eaves cornice and coped parapet. Rear elevation has six/six sashes. INTERIOR: Not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Attached wrought iron railings and gate with shaped heads on limestone bases.
