Description
The gate-piers, retaining walls, and steps at the entrance to Nos. 1 and 2 Woodhill Place date from the early 19th century and are constructed of ashlar. Located at the edge of the pavement opposite the center of the villas, there are a pair of panelled gate-piers topped with cross-pedimented cappings. The entrance features a landing that leads to a series of steps with broad landings, which are contained by a rear retaining wall that has a triple pediment, with the center being the widest. The copings continue along a lower horizontal stretch of walls that flank the steps. The central pediment is inscribed with "WOODHILL PLACE" in fine Roman lettering.
