Description

Limes Cottage is a late 16th-century timber-framed building that was altered in the 17th century and then refaced in the mid-19th century. The ground floor is now faced with painted brick, while the first floor has an imitation timber-frame with pebble-dashed infill. The cottage is two storeys high and has one window. The first floor has a mid-19th-century oriel window supported by brackets, featuring sash windows with marginal glazing. The ground floor has a 16-pane sash window. A later door has been added to the left. The right-hand side elevation has a weatherboarded gable and traces of the original timber framing. The rear of the cottage has a gable constructed of late-17th-century brickwork and has separate framing with Queen struts. Inside, there is a large, inserted chimney stack from the 16th century, original floorboards, and a mid-17th-century spine beam with elaborate stepped stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
