Description

14 and 15 Grafton is a cottage that has been divided, dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century, with alterations made in the mid to late 19th century. The building is timber framed with painted brick nogging and has been partly rebuilt or refaced in painted brick. It features a plain tile roof and has rectangular panels in the framing, with straight corner braces. The structure consists of two framed bays and is one storey with an attic.

On the exterior, there is a brick end stack on the left and an integral brick corner stack on the right at the front. The cottage has three gabled dormers, each with small-paned, two-light wooden casements. The front has two windows: a 19th-century segmental-headed two-light wooden casement on the left and a 20th-century three-light wooden casement on the right. There is a central 20th-century lean-to porch, with the left-hand part enclosed, featuring segmental-headed entrances and a slatted window in the center, along with boarded doors.

To the left and right, there are one-storey lean-to brick additions from the late 19th or early 20th century. The left-hand gable end displays a collar and tie-beam truss with queen struts. The interior of the right-hand cottage includes a deep-chamfered ceiling beam with chamfered joists, a 17th-century timber framed dividing wall with a blocked arched doorway, and an old winder stair.
