Description
Malling Priory is a house dating from around 1730. It is built of red brick with painted stone dressings and a plinth, topped by a renewed tiled roof with end brick chimney stacks. The building has an L-shape, is two storeys high, and features five windows. These windows are sashes with 12 panes, cambered heads, and keystones. There is a band between the floors and end quoins, along with a plinth. On the left side, there is a lead rainwater head with a floral design. The high central doorcase is notable for its fluted pilasters with scallop shell-like capitals, a curved pediment, and an eight-panel moulded door. A service wing made of similar materials is located behind the main structure. The rear elevation showcases early 18th-century wide glazing bars and an arched stair window. Although the interior was not inspected at the time of the survey, it has been reported to contain a fine early 18th-century staircase featuring three distinct patterns of turned balusters for each tread, along with pine panelling.
