Description
Crosskeys is a house located on the east side of High Street in Lindfield. It is probably from the late 16th century and features a three-bay timber-framed structure with an early 17th-century cross wing to the north. The house was refronted in the early 19th century. The ground floor is made of brick, including some chequer brickwork, while the first floor is weatherboarded. The roof is old and tiled, with a half-hipped design on the right side and a gable that is flush with the wall plate on the left, also featuring tile hanging on the half hip.
This two-storey lobby entrance house has four windows, which are casement style. There is a modern gabled porch that is timber-framed and includes herringbone brick nogging. A late 16th-century brick cruciform chimney stack is located on the ridge. Inside, there is a fireplace with a moulded bressummer and exposed heavy floor joists.
