Description

48 South Street is a building from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It has a much lower frontage compared to the adjacent No 47. The building features an old tiled roof with a hip at the northern end and a large brick chimney stack. It stands three storeys high and has one window bay. A brick dentilled cornice runs below the eaves. The windows are set in reveals with segmental arches above, and the painted brick voussoirs are visible. On the second floor, there is one two-light casement window, while the first floor has a sash window with intact glazing bars. The ground floor includes a small 19th-century three-light canted oriel shop window, which is boxed in below and has modern facing above the fascia.
