Description
28 and 29 South Street are 18th-century buildings that stand two storeys high with an attic. They feature a steeply pitched tiled gabled roof and have a frontage that is notably lower than that of the adjacent No 27. The buildings include two dormers and a painted brick modillion eaves cornice. The northern part is stuccoed, while the southern part is finished in painted brick. There are three windows, one of which is blocked, with central keystones above them. The sash windows have flush boxes and intact glazing bars. The northern part also has a small 19th-century oriel shop window, which consists of three plate-glass panels, with the northernmost panel canted towards the doorway. The door features some fielded panels. In the southern part, there is a large plate-glass window. Access to the central doorway is via a flight of two steps with an iron handrail. The door itself has four fielded panels and is set within a moulded frame.
