Description
Walnut Tree Cottage is a house dating from the 16th century, with significant extensions made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The cottage features a timber frame with a brick exterior and has a plain tiled roof. There is a ridge stack on the right side and a rendered end stack on the left. The original part of the house, located on the left, is two storeys high and has two casement windows on the first floor, with ground floor windows that are sheltered by pent roof tile hoods. The central entrance has a glazed door beneath a tiled porch hood, supported by a weatherboard gable on wooden supports. To the right, there is a 20th-century extension designed in a similar style, which includes one ground floor casement window. At the rear, there is a 19th-century catslide roof.
Inside, the cottage retains its old external walls, which are preserved with whitewashed brick infill, and features a deep brick fireplace with a wooden lintel.
