Description
Mellow Place is a house that dates back to the early 16th century, with 18th-century extensions on the right and 19th and 20th-century extensions at the rear. The building features a timber-framed old cottage that is clad in colourwashed brick at the bottom and tile hung above. The rear extensions are designed in a similar style. The roof is plain tiled, hipped with a gablet at the left end and an over-sailing gable on the ridge to the right. The original cottage at the front has a wing that extends at a right angle to the rear, with additional extensions to the rear left, creating an L-shape. The house has two framed bays, is two storeys high, and has a large stack at the centre of the rear. There are three casement windows on the first floor and three more on the ground floor. To the right, there is a part-glazed door with decorative tile hanging. The outer gables and a central gabled dormer add to the character of the building. A new entrance is located at the centre, featuring a part-glazed door within a large open gabled porch. There is also a single-storey brick wing to the right. Inside, the house has a windbraced roof, a deep fireplace with a large double oven, and a queenpost roof.
