Description

Knightons is a house dating from around 1820. It is constructed of colourwashed brick with a rendered ground floor and dressings, topped by a slate roof hidden behind a rendered parapet. The house has a square plan with wings extending to the rear right. It is two storeys high, featuring rendered stacks on the front left and right. The front has a plinth, with a channelled and rusticated ground floor and paired Doric pilaster piers at the angles of the first floor, and simple pilaster piers between bays. A plain cornice entablature sits above, topped by a rounded parapet. There are three twelve-pane sash windows on the first floor, set within architrave surrounds. Casement doors are positioned under transoms on the ground floor. A glazed square portico is centrally placed, housing double doors, both glazed and within a flat-roofed structure. The right-hand return front extends three bays deep, with twelve-pane sash windows on the first floor. A wing to the right has dentilled brick eaves. Here, the first floor has three sashes, with the rightmost sash being tripartite. A ground floor window is located to the left, while a double door within a fluted Ionic surround is on the right, alongside a central half-glazed door.
