Description

The building comprises two cottages, Nos. 7 and 8 Millpond Cottages, which were originally one early 17th-century cottage, later extended and divided. The front is timber-framed and faced with galleted sandstone rubble with brick angle quoins. Brick extensions, whitewashed and with whitewashed tile hanging above, are present to the right. The roof is tiled, hipped to the left, stepping down and hipped to the right. The cottages are set at a right angle to the street. There are three framed bays, originally with a large offset stack located at the right end, now incorporated within an extension. The cottages are two storeys high, with two windows on each floor. A central door is set within a shallow open porch (for No. 7). A planked 19th-century door is located to the right, sheltered by a braced gabled hood with a window to the side (for No. 8). The return front, facing the street, has two windows to each floor.
