Description

This public fountain, located at the junction with Hoe Lane, was built in 1877 by Edward Lee Rowcliffe. It is constructed from coursed sandstone blocks and features voussoirs over the arch. The fountain includes a granite trough and has an arched design supported by a corbel band, with end buttresses. There are stone benches at each end of the trough. A water spout is situated in an arched panel on the rear wall, which is inscribed with the words "Whosoever will let him take the water of life freely."
