Description

A row of cottages dating from the late 17th and early 18th century, with 20th-century extensions to the right. The cottages are built of red and grey brick, with plain-tiled roofs. The left side has an imitation frame over a ground floor which is partially rendered and partially exposed brick. The cottages are two storeys high with attics in the left section, lit by two hipped-roof dormers. A plat band runs across the ground floor on the left side, with a grey brick header course in the center, and a plinth below. Corbelled stacks are located at the left end. A front stack stands right of the centre, and another at the junction with the extensions. Additional stacks are situated to the right and at the rear, with an overhanging gable on the right. There are three first-floor windows on the left side, and four cambered-head windows on the ground floor. A half-glazed door is located to the left of the centre (No. 2), and another half-glazed door is to the right of the centre. A sandstone block extension is at the left end, featuring a buttress and a single small window. The extensions to the right are not considered to be of special architectural interest.
