Description

Westgate and Westgate Cottage are cottages located on Frensham Road, dating from the 17th century on the right side and from the 18th and 19th centuries on the left. The building was restored in the 20th century. The left side features timber framing with whitewashed brick infill, while the right side is clad in whitewashed brick. The roofs are plain tiled, with a half-hipped design at the right end and a lower hipped roof on the left. The structure is L-shaped, consisting of two cottage ranges at right angles, connected by a lower range at the corner.

The cottages are two storeys high, with three ridge stacks on the right range and one ridge stack along with a rear stack on the left range. The right-hand range has a plat band over the ground floor, a gabled through-eaves dormer with two lights on the left, and two 2-light casements on the right. The ground floor features four 3-light casements, with the left window displaying diamond pattern glazing. There is a door to the right located in an open gabled porch, and another door to the left beneath a flat hood. A single-storey extension is present at the right end.

The left-hand range has three on-eaves dormers: two gabled on the left and center, and one hipped on the right. There are outer square bay windows on the ground floor and a single casement on the right. The central door is set in a 19th-century porch with a hood supported by brackets.
