Description
Shepherds Cottage is a cottage that is the remains of a larger house, dating from the early 16th century, with 20th-century extensions. It features a timber frame that is exposed, with whitewashed render infill and whitewashed brick at the ends. The first floor of the gable end is tile hung, and the plain tiled roof extends in a catslide over a pentice to the right. The building is positioned at right angles to the street and has two storeys. There are two framed bays remaining from the old house, with arched bracing on the first floor. A stack is located at the left end. The cottage has two leaded casement windows on the first floor and two windows on the ground floor. At the rear, there is a 20th-century hipped roof extension that includes one three-light window on both the first and ground floors. The door is situated in the re-entrant angle next to the old range and faces the street.
