Description
Alfold Stores and The Magnolias is a building that originally served as a house and has since been extended to the left and partly converted into a shop. It dates back to the 17th century, with later extensions added to the left in the 20th century and to the front right in the late 19th century. The structure features part timber framing, which is clad in whitewashed brick on the left side, while the ground floor on the right is made of red brick, with tile hanging above and slate roofs. The building has a T-shaped plan with a cross wing on the right side. It stands two storeys tall and includes a 17th-century stack, which is inserted under a corbelled top, located to the right of the centre at the junction with the wing.
On the first floor, there are four casement windows, and the ground floor features a leaded square bay casement window in the centre. The shop front has a flat roof with plate glass windows and two half-glazed doors to the right. There is also a door to the right of centre leading to Magnolia Cottage and a garage door to the left within a porch recess. To the right, there is a battlemented extension that includes one "cross" window, which serves as the Post Office.
