Description

This building, originally a house and now a shop, dates from the mid-19th century and has been altered. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a roof made of 20th-century concrete tiles and plain tiles. The structure has two storeys, a cellar, and an attic, with two bays and a parallel two-storey rear range.

The full-width late 19th-century shop front includes 20th-century plate-glass windows set in old frames. There is a central recessed porch with three doors; the doors on the left and right, which were formerly for two separate shops, have two panels each with glazed upper panels and overlights. The central door, which used to lead to a first-floor flat, has six panels, with the central panels now glazed, and an overlight featuring decorative glazing bars. Above the porch and windows is a corniced fascia with fluted end corbels.

On the first floor, there are two unequally-hung 12-pane sash windows beneath painted wedge lintels with fluted keystones and projecting sills. The eaves are stepped and dentilled, and there are end stacks. At the rear, the first floor is tile-hung and has two 2-light windows; the window on the right has a 16-pane side-sliding sash, while the window on the left features 12-pane casements. Inside, the wall between the front and rear ranges is made of brick-infilled studwork, and the cellar's front wall is constructed of rubblestone. This building is included for its group value.
