Description

Deanery House is a house that has been converted into a dental surgery and physiotherapy treatment room. It dates from the mid to late 19th century and is constructed of stucco with a concealed roof. The building stands three storeys high and has three bays. It features a moulded plinth and giant corner pilasters with acanthus capitals and leafy consoles that flank the cornice, which is adorned with floral bosses between modillions and topped with a parapet.

On the ground floor, there are two round-arched doorways at each end, each with tripartite keystones above the archivolts. The doors consist of six sunk panels, with the right door having a replacement small-pane upper section. Both doorways have fanlights with decorative iron glazing bars, although the right fanlight has been removed. The central bay window is canted and features four-pane sashes with low decorative iron rails in front and tripartite keystones. A panelled frieze runs above the doorways, leading to a blocking course.

The first floor includes a sill band and features a four-pane sash flanked by tripartite sashes, with two-pane sashes on either side of the central four-pane sash. All windows are set within architraves that have decorative console brackets supporting the cornice. Swept apron panels connect the first and second floor windows, with the upper windows also featuring similar sashes and shouldered, reeded architraves.

At the rear of the building, there are two wings, with later infill and an extension on the right-hand wing. Several sashes with glazing bars are present in the reveals, topped with cambered brick arches.
