Description
The Bakehouse, an outbuilding to No 33 (No 1, The Priory), is a former bakehouse likely built in the mid to late 18th century. It features brick construction in Flemish bond, with some weatherboard, rubblestone, and studwork, topped by a plain tile roof. The building is single-storey and consists of one by two bays.
On the north gable, there is a board door with decorative muntins, a wood frame, and a segmental brick arch, while the gable is weatherboarded. The left side has a bricked-up mullion window, and the right side features a 6-light wood-mullioned window. The rear has a rubblestone base supporting a studwork wall with brick infill and includes a gable stack.
Inside, there is a very large chimney against the rear wall with a set pot on the left side and a bread oven on the right. The interior also has a reused central tie-beam that supports a queen-post truss, along with wind braces.
