Description

Hatchetts is a 17th-century house located on Petworth Road in Chiddingfold. The building features a timber frame that is encased in whitewashed brick, with fishscale tile hanging above. It has a half hipped plain tile roof, with a ridge stack positioned to the right of center and an end stack to the right. The house is one storey high with an attic, which includes tile-hung gabled dormers. The windows are a mix of casement styles, some of which are leaded. On the ground floor, there are projecting bays with windows to the right, and the first floor has four windows across its front. The central entrance is a panelled and part glazed door, which is sheltered by a late 19th-century brick and timber gabled porch. Inside, there is a deep brick fireplace with a wooden lintel in the ground floor room to the right.
