Description
This barn, located 40 metres south of Painshill Farm House, dates back to the 16th century. It features a timber frame set on a sandstone plinth, with extensions made of puddingstone and ironstone blocks on the right. The main structure is clad in weatherboarding and topped with a hipped roof covered in plain tiles, which has a gablet on the left side. There are pentice roofs at both ends of the barn. The building consists of five framed bays, each with pentices. It has central wagon entrances on opposite sides and a first-floor door on the left. The wall frames have jowled posts and arched braces, some of which have been renewed, supporting a Queen-strut roof. Additionally, there is a 20th-century brick extension at the rear.
