Description
This barn, located approximately 40 metres south-west of Pentlow Hall Farmhouse, dates from around 1400, with some construction from the 16th century. It features a timber frame and is weatherboarded, topped with a half hipped roof made of corrugated asbestos. The barn has a 20th-century lean-to added to both the front and rear. It consists of 10 bays, with two of these possibly being extensions. The structure includes jowled storey posts and heavy arched braces supporting cambered tie beams, which are complemented by spandrel strutting. The roof is a late side purlin design, and the top plates have bridled scarfs with stop-chamfers. Overall, the barn is of good quality.
