Description

Rowly Farm House is a house dating from the 16th century, with an extension added to the right in 1887. The building has a timber-framed core that is exposed on the left-hand return front, featuring whitewashed brick infill above a brick render plinth, with tile hanging above. The left side is clad in red and blue brick, while the right side has whitewashed render and whitewashed brick with tile-hung extensions. The roofs are plain tiled, hipped, and step down to the left, with the entrance front facing the rear.

The house has two storeys, with the roof raised to the right of centre and taller extensions at the right end. There is a multiple stack to the left of centre with a corbelled top, and additional stacks on the ends of the extensions, which feature decorative brick panels on the shafts, strapwork cartouches, and dentilled hoods. On the left end, there is one casement window on each floor, with the ground floor window set under a cambered head. The centre range has two leaded windows with raised eaves. The projecting extension to the right includes one window on each floor and a glazed door to the left of the stack. There is an old entrance to the lobby on the left, which features a 19th-century gabled brick porch.

On the right-hand return front, there is an angle bay to the left that projects, containing one first-floor window and a six-light "cross" window on the ground floor around the bay. A hip-roofed half-glazed porch is located to the right at the junction of the angle bay, with a hip-windowed range to the right.

Inside, there is a brick-floored lobby entry and a good brick fireplace. The ground floor features stop-chamfered central spine beams.
